Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cups whole milk (105–110°F)
- 1 packet (1/4 oz) active dry yeast
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 1 large egg, at room temperature
- 1 1/4 teaspoons kosher salt
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (for brushing)
Instructions
- Combine milk, yeast, and honey in a small bowl; let stand until foamy, about 5 minutes.
- In a stand mixer with dough hook, beat milk mixture, butter, egg, salt, and 2 cups flour on medium-low until a smooth batter forms, 1–2 minutes.
- Gradually add remaining 2 cups flour, 1/2 cup at a time, until a soft, elastic, slightly tacky dough forms. Beat on medium-high 3 minutes.
- Transfer dough to an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot until doubled, 45 minutes to 1 hour.
- Punch down dough. On a floured surface, roll into a 1/2-inch rectangle. Fold in half, press edges to seal. Roll again into a 12×8-inch rectangle; cut into 15 rolls.
- Place rolls on parchment-lined baking sheets, cover, and let rise until doubled, 30–45 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375°F. Bake 14–16 minutes until golden brown.
- Brush with melted butter and serve warm.
